DEGRADATION’S pummelling live action is documented in a new tape — ‘Heavier than the Death of the Labour Party’ — recorded at cave12, Geneva. The duo’s live performance utilises processed tapework, heavy electronics and harsh amplified metal in a lamentation of the perverse ideology of the English. Expect live cuts from the band’s debut LP Leadlined and demented breaks from their recent surgical dub of You're Like a Scalpel, I'm Like a Flick Knife by Iceman Junglist Kru. A narrower sonic palette than DEGRADATION studio material allows for a more brutal heft, amplified by Grant Richardson's fearsome master. As leaden as the landlord class, as corroded as capital's B team.
"With, in the second part of the evening, the excellent arrival of the English DEGRADATION, a duo slaying a sort of perverse lament, uttered from sound collages, heavy, abrasive, incisive electronic manipulations and drone uprisings. Displaced futures, imagined pasts, denounced colonists, debilitating powers, atomized nationalist mythologies, perverse ideologies and deluges of anger form the body of the sound universe of DEGRADATION. Like a corrupt and decayed hum of rotten modernism or an attack in flight bombarding the jugular of colonialism.
Authors of a recording-manifesto, highly acclaimed by specialist critics (the very good “Leadlined” on the Brachliegen Tapes label), DEGRADATION is a plastic waste bag filled with fragments of post_industrial shards, roaring full-noise, and intrusive thoughts, excavated via bombarding aural blasts and saturations.
By means of sound signals spilling out in clashing chains amidst biting delay effects, DEGRADATION dive level above contemporary rapine, in an attempt to overcome it, while the future horizon is inexorably reduced into an inextricable impasse.
Crisis music par excellence (& obligation), DEGRADATION belch their cold tones forged in lead through a network-machinery of perditions. Sounds are processed and re-processed, environmental recordings are swallowed then regurgitated: murmurs cracking through geiger pulsations, modulated by memory, the process of stolen time, municipal injunctions, the abusive spin which orders us not to leave the work necessary to capital, and to remain shadows refracted by the receding shoreline.
A dark squall, an intractable and impeccable observation of the futurity of humanity. Highly recommended.”

Superb stuff full of dream like atmospheres, beautifully recorded and mixed together. Be patient with it as the record will eventually envelop your brain. Gavin Hellyer
