THE EXPRESSIONLESS FEAR is a collection of hard, despondent and spluttering machine rhythms from South Korea's GORGEOUS GORGEOUS. Full-spectrum noise squall sits above low menacing rattle, as heavy electronics are submerged in the pathos of an interminable solitude. Kicks echoing the crump of artillery at the other end of the valley stretch and reduce harmonic overtones; heavy blunts of weaponised sonics knife through the subterfuge, slicing the melancholy despondence into four tracks of punishing noise. The artist describes living their ‘whole life in a small town in Busan… literally a village formed in the mountains and a place where you can see the sea at the same time’.

From their hometown, GORGEOUS GORGEOUS observes that ‘many artists and friends have left Busan and clubs are disappearing, but I am here… I’ve always wondered why I’m here…’ In the dense fog of solitude, the melancholy pulse of a crackle cascades into sonic thunderclap. A revenant howls through the suburbs, possessed by a visored terror, whose armour clanks and rattles into the night, lost in the morning to the bin lids and the foxes. An almost romantic yearning in the slices of melody that force their way through the churn collapse in on themselves, birthing a faltering farewell which gnaws away at itself, leaving a masochistic ode to those who remain.
